Diplomato giovanissimo in clarinetto a Firenze è attivo sulla scena italiana ed internazionale da oltre vent’anni ed è stato nominato dalla rivista Jazzit miglior clarinettista italiano per il 2017 e il 2018 e votato dalla rivista americana DownBeat tra i migliori del mondo. Nel 2000 ha vinto il premio Massimo Urbani come
miglior solista.
Ha al proprio attivo decine di registrazioni discografiche da leader e da sideman. Si è esibito varie volte in numerosi festival italiani e internazionali in Europa, Australia, Stati Uniti, Brasile e Giappone.
Vanta collaborazioni con artisti di grande fama quali Tom Harrell, Fred Hersch, Lee Konitz, Enrico Rava, per citarne alcuni. Ha fatto parte della Vienna Art Orchestra e da più di vent’anni collabora stabilmente con Stefano Bollani suonando
in molte delle sue formazioni.
Nel 2014 ha fondato, in collaborazione con Pisa Jazz, il Nico Gori Swing 10tet, con cui ha già realizzato tre dischi per la Saifam Records e con cui ha tenuto numerosi
concerti, ospitando artisti del calibro di Renzo Arbore, Fabrizio Bosso, Rossana Casale e Drusilla Foer.

Graduated at a very young age in clarinet in Florence, he has been active on the Italian and international scene for over twenty years and was nominated by Jazzit magazine as the best Italian clarinetist for 2017 and 2018 and voted among the best in the world by the American magazine DownBeat. In 2000 he won the Massimo Urbani prize as best soloist. He has dozens of recordings as a leader and sideman to his credit. He has performed several times in numerous Italian and international festivals in Europe, Australia, the United States, Brazil and Japan. He boasts collaborations with renowned artists such as Tom Harrell, Fred Hersch, Lee Konitz, Enrico Rava, to name a few. He was a member of the Vienna Art Orchestra and has been collaborating permanently with Stefano Bollani, playing for more than twenty years in many of its formations. In 2014 he founded, in collaboration with Pisa Jazz, the Nico Gori Swing 10tet, with whom he has already released three albums for Saifam Records and with whom he has held numerous concerts, hosting artists of the caliber of Renzo Arbore, Fabrizio Bosso, Rossana Casale and Drusilla Foer. “He has one of the best clarinet sounds in jazz and is a fearless improviser” Fred Hersch (pianist)
